How It Works
How It Works
The action that the family is taking can be difficult, emotional, and freeing all at the same time. The goal in this process is to provide not only the person suffering from alcohol or drug addiction hope but also for the family to find peace in the process as well. The process starts with an initial meeting. It is designed to find out who the family is working with, what their philosophies are, and ensuring those philosophies are compatible.
This meeting is vital to the entire process of the intervention. The beginning process may take several meetings as it is vital the family feels confident in the intervention process.
In this initial meeting with the family, friends, or loved ones who see that someone they care about is suffering from alcohol or drug addiction. It helps identify what is the best course of action to take regarding the type of intervention. It is important that the family feels comfortable with the process of the intervention and is told exactly what will happen, the order in which it will happen as well as what their role is in the process.
One of the aspects that sets South Mountain Addiction Services apart from other intervention services is the follow-up sessions that the family, friends, and others who are a part of the intervention can utilize to help heal.

Yes, that is a normal reaction. Remember that the person suffering from alcoholism/addiction has spent time pushing family and friends out of their lives due to their disease. When the intervention takes place, they may feel angry at first, but often feel relief after.
